            The All-India Oriental Conference, which has for the last eight decades served as the national forum of scholars interested in Orientology, will hold its 42^nd Session at Varanasi under the auspices of the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, on 4^th, 5^th & 6^th November, 2004.  

            The General President of the Conference is Professor (Dr.) K.K. Chaturvedi, Former Director, Kalidasa Academy, Professor Rajendra Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi – 221 002, has been elected the Vice-President.

            All persons interested in Oriental Learning and Research are requested to enroll themselves as Members of the Conference by filling in the accompanying Membership Form. The subscription for the Session is Rs.100/- and life-membership subscription is Rs.1000/-.

            The membership form, duly filled in and accompanied by the necessary amount of subscription, is to be sent to the General Secretary, AIOC, Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, Pune 411 004.  The amount should be sent by Demand Draft (drawn in favour of the General Secretary and payable at Pune) only. Cheques will not be accepted.  Life Members are also required to fill in the accompanying form and forward it to the General Secretary, AIOC, Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, Pune 411 004. The last date for registration of membership is 5^th August 2004 .  The fee for lodging and boarding will be decided by the Local Secretary.  

          Scholars are requested to submit research papers typed, in duplicate (one copy to the Local Secretary and one to the Sectional President), for any of the Sections of the Session. The papers should be of the nature of ORIGINAL CONTRIBUTION to the subject. They should not exceed ten double-spaced typed pages, and each should be accompanied by a summary not exceeding three hundred words.  The papers, along with their summaries should be sent to the Local Secretary not later than 15^th September 2004 .

            Following prizes will be given to the best papers presented by young scholars in the respective Sections:-

3.      Dr. V.G. Raburkar Prize (Vedanata – Philosophy and Religion)

6.      Muni Punyavijayaji Prize (Prakrit & Jainism)

7.      D.K. Jain , O.R. Institute Prize (Prakrit & Jainism)

8.      Mrs. Annapurna and Dr. R.K. Sharma Prize (Modern Sanskrit)

9.      Markatavalli Sundareswara Sambhavana Prize (Pandita Parisad)

10.  Sragdhara Nandi Prize (Alamkarasastra)  

On copy of the paper to be submitted for any of the above prizes should be directly sent to the Sectional President of the respective section and one copy should be submitted to the General Secretary.
